twittery

I didn't get twitter when I first started but some persistent chappy tried to get me to join, so I did. And lo and behold the twits started coming. However I now find I am following a load of internet marketing geeks and those who follow american football and what is happening in Kentucky. I don't really care. It's a bizarre mix and so easy to click on little links here and there.

Have I found anything useful? Well have tweeted up to some great folk I had lost touch with and had the anorak experience of twittering about a folksy item I just listed and seen the hits go up.

Somehow I am not sure whether the person who can offer me great ways of saving on tax will appreciate a hand crocheted trinket box or a little doggie.

business cards

How much time can be wasted by choosing business cards! just been spending hours trying this that and the other and really got fed up with it now. am I eco friendly, arty, flowery, ditsy, sophisticated, quirky??? I think I know what I'm not but there are so many to choose from! Will not rush it all this time around...

it's snowing AGAIN

what a bizarre evening. I decided to have a mooch around folksy forums and something came up about google analytics, so I set to in setting up and then I realised I had to go and collect my other half who had taken his car in to be sorted and needed a lift. This is a 9 o'clock at night with snow coming down in buckets. Anyway, got to the garage and he wasn't there. Seems he had set off home and I had driven straight past him (focusing on seeing road in blizzard and google analytics...). anyway, happy ending as we are now home safe, and I figured out the GA and have a nice cup of tea going too. Happy days.

Also the cards I had given to Cancer Research fund raising have gone down a storm, so what do I do? Cards for free for charity or charge for those who want to buy? Maybe do about three more for charity and there goes my five quid's worth (if people do buy them) to a great cause. And here is a pic of a jam pot cover I made in the summer.

hooray!

I showed my new cards to a friend and she bought two! Ah, there is a market! There are so many cards out there, but I wanted to do something a bit different and she agreed with me that it is really hard finding something you like. All these different tastes...
speaking of which, I am tucking into a scone from Devon with strawberry jam and real clotted cream. So much for the diet. Back on with it tomorrow.

diet

I am loving this diet from slimtone. I sent off for the blurb last week and it's such great value. All the recipes are fab and easy and it's actually working! I have baked potatoes in the oven and made some fruit brulee with blackberries from last year, fromage frais and brown sugar done under the grill. Not quite as calorific as the real deal, but nice enough.

I have decided that the pictures of my cards are rubbish, so will not bother to put them up on folksy. Will try and offer them to friends and family! It may support a lottery ticket a week!

snow and stash

Following on from this morning, we went out and had a walk but the snow was disappearing fast. Still got some nice pics.

And then I got busy with making the cards using applique and my stash of the most varied fabrics imaginable, from upholstery, vintage, cottons, recycled material etc.

Unfortunately the light was fading when I was photographing these so they're not the best. But I have had fantastic fun making them!

it's snowing again!

Looked outside first thing and the snow was there, deep and crisp and even until a milk truck drove over it. It's magical. Going out again in a bit.

Last night I had a crack at making a tea cozy with pure Peruvian Wool that must be at least 20 years old. I think my Mum must have brought some back from her trip in 1987 and she passed away in 1996.

I have also been making some cards for the new Cancer Research appeal.

I haven't really done much in the way of card making but thought I would do little appliques with some of my stash, using Indian silky fabric all the way from Jaipur plus some bits left over from Amy's (daughter) cushions.

Photo'd them last night so not good light

new look

Getting to grips with this stuff now. I have managed to change the banner in my folksy shop and now added this weirdy look. Experiment experiment!

Here's little Buster!

He is now up in the Folksy shop http://www.folksy.com/items/297389-Buster-
and I hardly dare part with him, endearing little chap.

I am look at Fat Gertie the pig with no legs. There she is lying in a state of half completion and I am thinking she will look fab with a garland of flowers around her neck. She is quite large, hand crocheted from some odd vintage yarn I picked up from somewhere and is without a doubt,a pig, although she could have easily metamorphosized into a hippo at some point.

I am off working having had a tooth out earlier and feeling a little groggy

scary stuff

I'm okay with stuff that is 3d and in my hands. When it comes to digital, then it's a whole new ball game. Was listening to an extract from Woman's Hour about people who loved maths (good grief) and have come to the conclusion that the unseen world of algebra and weird number stuff is the same world as trying to do something digitally. We all have different talents for a reason. Maybe I should leave well alone and love my blog as it is.

New needle felting needles from ebay have arrived, all looking suitably like fairies' weapons of mass destruction, complete with barbs and exceedingly dangerous. Can't wait to get stabbing!

Meanwhile, I am putting together another Granny, what a gentle art this is! I found a magazine at work which is American and 4 years old with an article about Kaffe Fassett. It's worth hanging on to just for the colours. I just love his colours and what he does with them. Mmmm.

Today I started my new Welsh diet. It's great. You get to eat crumpets and cheese triangles. How refreshing.

blogtastic (not)

Okay so maybe it's too late at night, but with all the beautiful blogs in the world they all had to start somewhere. I love the ones that are so scrummy and full of deliciousness like Attic 24. Mine is plain and I have yet to discover how to make it pretty and with bits and bobs and heaven knows what else. Is it just too pink?

New things I am playing with are needle felting. What a weird extraordinary thing that is! Have made some funny little mongrels and feel strangely compelled to do more. And this was before I saw this fella by Domenica More Gordon. Oh my word! Brad Pitt wanted one for his kids and so on and on! Will photo mine at the weekend.

more pics

grannies go on and on

I don't know why I do it but I start off doing a blanket and then get bored and slow down and then start up again. I fall in love with the colours and itch to put them together, but it is tedious. Then again so many textile crafts (and any craft come to think of it) do take time. The churning out like a little production line maybe more commercially viable but not my thing really.

still love dolls

First post

I saw a most wonderful exhibition at Ruthin. The most amazing contemporary silverware, enamel and decorative items. Plus too the most fabulous gorgeous jewellery, glassware etc. And they had a beautiful display of woven scarves too. It's been a while since I have feasted my eyes, and I am inspired.
I treated myself to a copy of Selvedge too. this is satisfying made of thick tactile paper, which smells nice and scrumptious photography. would love to go for a subscription, the height of indulgence and it\'s the kind of thing you would never recycle, but keep as a source book for years to come.

There is a strange merging from craft to real art; I am trying to figure out where one ends and the other begins...maybe this blog will be an exploration of this and my developing ideas. It's time to come full circle.
